Steel Magnolias AUDITIONS

This spring, the Strand Theatre is thrilled to bring to the stage the southern classic Steel Magnolias!  Take a trip to Miss Truvy’s beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisianna and peer into the lives of the women who are strong as steel but gentle as magnolias in May.  If you’re a fan of the 1989 film starring Julia Roberts, Sally Field, and Dolly Parton, you’ll recognize the same beloved characters and one-liners, such as, “I’m not crazy!  I’ve just been in a bad mood for forty years!”
 
Steel Magnolias will open April 3 and run through April 5.  Auditions will be held Sunday, February 23 and Monday, February 24-both from 7-9pm.
 
All roles are available and no experience is necessary.  The all-female cast is as follows:
Truvy Jones:  40’s, owner of the beauty shop
Annelle Dupuy-Desoto:  late teens/early 20’s, beauty shop assistant
Clairee Belcher:  60’s, widow of former mayor
Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie:  20’s, prettiest girl in town
M’Lynn Eatenton-50’s, Shelby’s mother, socially prominent career woman
Ouiser (pronounced “Weezer”) Bourdreaux-60’s, wealthy curmudgeon, acerbic but lovable
